Onam celebration -Day 1

Report: Onam Celebrations - Day 1

Today marked the beginning of the annual Onam festival celebrations at MTTC.Onam is the major annual festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala, with festivities traditionally lasting 10 days.

The day's events kicked off at 10am in the main auditorium with a spectacular performance showcasing various traditional Keralite art forms. We students  mesmerized the audience with colorful displays of Kerala Natanam (classical dance), Kathakali (traditional dance drama), and Kalaripayattu (ancient martial art form) and many more dances. I danced Kathakali.

Following the performances, the festivities moved outdoors to the college grounds where a variety of games and competitions related to Onam were organized. One of the highlights was the Uriyadi, a game where participants form concentric circles and try to burst a small pot suspended in the air by hitting it with a longstick while keeping in rhythm with traditional Onam songs.
